Before

I took all of the red away from the holidays. Now I have a new blank slate so I can refresh this room for spring. As you can see I still have the board and batten accent wall behind the bed painted in Pewter Green from Sherwin-Williams.

All of the furniture here is painted in Bistro White by Valspar. The handles are gold using Rub ‘n Buff. The walls are painted Manchester Tan by Sherwin-Williams–my favorite neutral paint–it has no undertones it’s just a true soft beige.

Cottage-inspired wall art

1. Wall art

I love the varying shades of blue and green. It’ll be a great fit here above the bed for spring and summer.

2. Bed

My trick for making a bed look cozy is to add two lightweight down comforters inside of a duvet cover. I say the more pillows the better. They add a cozy factor no matter how you arrange them.

This is a king-sized bed so I went with three 26 by 26-inch pillows in the back. If it were a queen bed, I could go with two. To fill in the gaps, I added two in the front.

I love the beige and cream pillow with the script and it ties in with the art above the bed. I added a pillow in the front with an oblong shape and it has plenty of texture.

I added a pretty quilt as a detail on the bed.

3. Nightstands

I added a little greenery and a pretty box to hide remotes, boxes, and even a midnight snack. I added the same on both tables for symmetry. I added tassel embellishments to the lamps.

4. Dresser

I added a runner to add interest. The beige and white tie-in with pillows. I added a couple more lamps that tie in with the accent wall. I added some greenery and family pictures.

5. Chairs

For the wingback chairs, I added a throw for color and pillows, like the cable-knit pillow, that ties in with the bed.

Armoire with decor

6. Armoire

Our cats love the top of this armoire so I have to be careful what I place here. So I put some candles, greenery, and artwork there.

7. Desk

I found this cute desk on Facebook Marketplace a few years ago. I brought it back up here so I put it in front of the window and added a lamp and greenery.

8. Bench

I painted this bench white and I have to recover the cushion. But I love it at the end of the bed. It’s very functional. I added a pillow and a throw.

Area rug

9. Area rug

Even if you have wall-to-wall carpet in a bedroom, it’s beautiful to layer an area rug on top. It adds a cozy look and a focal point in the space. Just make sure it’s larger than the bed.
