This warmer weather has me itching for a change! So, I decided to switch up the bedroom with some fresh, new bedding. Now, you know I’m all about affordability, so I’m here to tell you that although all-new bedding each season is nice, it’s 100% not necessary. Nor is it cheap. So keep reading, and I’ll share my spring bedding refresh along with how you can update your bed for the seasons without it costing an arm and a leg!

Star of the Show: Bedding

Some of you may remember the down comforter I raved about that was on killer sale for black Friday. (Last I checked, STILL on major sale!) That’s actually the item that sparked this whole refresh! I’m a little embarrassed to admit it’s taken this long to finally get it on our bed. Lol. Half of it was me simply dragging my feet, but the other half was that I wanted to find the perfect duvet cover. I knew I wanted white, but I also knew with a dog and three kids, white wasn’t exactly practical; so I needed one with lots of texture. Not only is this comforter an absolute dream (not too heavy + keeps you the perfect amount of warm… it’s nuts!), but I love love love the cover! It washes super well, and once the paw prints and Goldfish crumbs inevitably hit; I can just bleach it!

Of course, not all of you will be running to buy new bedding, so let’s zhuzh up what you’ve already got!

Co-Stars:

Throw Blankets

A throw blanket is a great way to transform your bed. It adds a pop of color and texture that can easily be swapped out for whatever season you’re in or vibe you’re going for. Chunky knit throws are my go-to for colder months, while lighter fabrics make sense for warmer months. You could use a smaller throw at the foot of your bed, or a large throw to cover the whole top of your bed. You could also use an existing quilt or chunky throw to fold across your bed for volume and fullness. This leopard print throw is my absolute favorite, and my daughter is always stealing it from me! It is SO soft and a dupe for the Barefoot Dreams blanket, which has been super hyped up by pretty much every influencer I follow. The more I wash it, the softer it seems to get!

Throw Pillows

Aside from a throw blanket, throw pillows are also an easy way to switch up your bedding sitch. Bonus: If you buy pillow inserts, you can just swap the pillows covers for an updated look! I like to have our Casper pillows that we sleep on in the back, followed by the pillow shams. For our spring bedding refresh, I added two 20 x 20 pillows ( these ones are to die for – I’ll talk about ’em in a sec), and this long lumbar pillow that ties everything together.

First of all, if any of you are looking for a comfy pillow to sleep on: here’s my unsponsored bit for the Casper pillow. My husband and I each have one, and I can honestly say it’s the most comfortable pillow I’ve ever slept on! {End bit.}

I always keep an eye out for ‘choppable’ pillows (iykyk). These pillows I shared on my Instagram are incredible quality for under $30 and I just love the color. They hold their form perfectly and the removable covers are a matte velvet. The white longest-lumbar-pillow-I’ve-ever-seen pillow was a HomeGoods find, but I’ve linked some similar for you. I love how the diamonds play off of the pattern of the duvet cover.

One last way you could refresh your bed is to switch up the art or wall decor you have above it. Picture frames are a great way to do this by updating photos or botanical prints. (Score some free ones here!)

And there you have it! A spring bedding refresh that’s easy to achieve! Let’s break it down:

  • A new comforter set or duvet cover is an instant refresh
  • Try a throw blanket to add a pop of color, pattern, or texture
  • Add pillows or switch pillow covers for a whole new vibe to change with the seasons
  • Swap out wall decor over your bed by updating photos or prints
