Today, I will share a few simple ways to create a relaxing and cozy bedroom space that will help you get a better night's sleep.

Plus, it will leave you feeling more refreshed and relaxed whenever you spend time there. So, sit back and check out my favorite tips for creating an inviting French country bedroom anyone would love.

Choosing a high-quality mattress

1. Mattress

The foundation for getting a really good night's sleep is starting with a high-quality mattress. Since I've been sleeping on my DreamCloud mattress, I have been falling asleep so much faster and waking up refreshed and energized.

Mattress with pillow top and pressure relief comfort layer

My favorite part of this mattress is not only the pillow top, but the pressure relief comfort layer. You get relief whenever you need it with the gel memory foam that contours to your individual shape. Plus, this layer is intended to cushion the body in the most sensitive areas like your pressure points.

Mattress with gel memory foam

The gel memory foam simply provides support where you need it most and comfort when you want it. Its sink-in just-right layer doesn't make you feel like you're being swallowed alive by your mattress, but you get that feeling of just being hugged when you lay down to go to sleep.

If you want to get your best night's sleep and start waking up fully refreshed and ready to go for the day, I highly advise you to get a DreamCloud mattress.

What sheets work best for you?

2. Sheets

Another one of my French country bedroom decorating ideas is to determine what kind of sheets work best for you. Sometimes coziness really comes down to the type of sheets that you choose.

Choosing the right sheet material

Most people don't realize that they can cater their sheet material to their body needs. For example, if you're a hot sleeper, you should consider bamboo or linen sheets because they allow your body to breathe. On the other hand, if you're a cold sleeper, you should think about flannel sheets to keep the warmth in.

100% cotton sheets with a very high thread count

For me, I absolutely love 100% cotton sheets with a very high thread count. I have always been that way, and I believe I always will be. I've never tried bamboo or linen sheets, but I hear from so many people that they love them as well.

Fluffy pillows on the bed

3. Pillows

Just as it’s important to have a really comfortable mattress to sleep on, you are going to want to have a really comfortable pillow so you don't wake up with neck pain, and you can fall asleep really quickly and comfortably.

I really love making my bed look extremely inviting because as soon as I walk into my bedroom, I'm already exhausted from the long day. So I love adding tons of fluffy pillows too. I look at my bed, and I immediately feel relaxed and ready to just get in and fall asleep.

Adding a comforter to the bed

4. Comforter

Another French country bedroom decor item that is a must-have is a super fluffy comforter. To add that extra fluffiness to my own duvet, I ended up using two down comforters inside.

During the summer months, we have our air on, so it's relatively cool, and I just use a sheet. But in the winter months, I use this super fluffy comforter that you see here on top of the bed.

Fresh flowers

5. Fresh flowers

Incorporating little pieces of nature in your space helps reduce stress and create a cozy atmosphere in your bedroom as well. You can add a beautiful house plant. For me, I always love to add a fresh bouquet of flowers on my nightstand.

Fresh bouquet of flowers

My favorite place to pick up a fresh bouquet of flowers is always Trader Joe's. They have a great selection of beautiful flowers year-round, and they always stay fresh for so long. I love Trader Joe's for its flowers.

So I went in there and I picked up a couple of bouquets of flowers, and I'm going to add one here in the kitchen and then this beautiful bouquet in my bedroom.

I went with the colors of fall because it is that season right now, and I also love those jewel tones that contrast with the white bedding. I just think it's going to make everything look super comfortable and cozy.

Aromatherapy candle for a bedroom

6. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can also be an extreme relaxant and create a cozy ambiance in your bedroom. It can add to the coziness of a space, especially when it is in a candle form.

The glow of a candle

The glow of a candle creates a warm light, and if you select a scent known for relaxation, such as lavender, it will make your bedroom feel like a calming oasis.

Cleaning and decluttering a bedroom

7. Clean surfaces

If you are looking to create a very cozy and relaxing bedroom, clearing the clutter is definitely a very important thing to do. Clutter is an instant mood buster in any bedroom, especially a small bedroom like mine where clutter can add up really fast on all surfaces.

Organizing items in a bedroom

So, I'm just going to clear off my dresser and add this basket to neatly place all of my books in. Always remember, if your bedroom feels disorganized and cluttered, it leads to mental clutter, which can make it harder to relax and fall asleep in your space.

I had to laugh when the subject was "adding a comforter to the bed" and there was a cat in the pic. My thought was, which comforter? The cat or the throw? (I'll take the cat anytime)!
