5 Cute Christmas Kitchen Decorating Ideas For Your Home
Whether you like dark or light cabinets, it doesn’t matter when it comes to Christmas kitchen decorating. It’s time to infuse our kitchen with festive charm. I’m sharing a few tips on lightly decorating your kitchen early in the Christmas season without overwhelming your space.
Christmas kitchen decorating ideas
1. Swap out dishware
When I think about transitioning my kitchen from fall to Christmas, I think about swapping out my everyday dishes and glassware for festive, seasonal alternatives. It’s an easy way to start embracing the holiday spirit.
2. Layer near the stove
I start with the food prep area but I want to keep it as clutter-free as possible. I’ll just put bottlebrush trees in those spaces because they are small, festive, and easy to move. I’ll put cutting boards behind the stove. Here, I layered in sleigh bells which I can easily move before I cook.
3. Brighten up the countertops
Add subtle touches to your countertops, such as a decorative tray, festive candle, holiday potpourri, or a small potted poinsettia can all brighten up your kitchen and make it feel more like Christmas without being overwhelming.
4. Soften up the island
Here’s where all the magic happens. I add trays, greenery, and a couple of other pieces that give a nod to the upcoming holiday season. The fresh greenery can soften up the space and add fragrance. I added some greenery and pine cones to this stag bowl.
5. Hang mistletoe from lamps
I added mistletoe to the pendant lamp but you can add in a simple wreath or garland for that Christmas touch.
Christmas kitchen decorating ideas
You can see that my theme in the kitchen was minimal clutter! I don’t like a lot of kitchen clutter and it was early in the season. I decorate a little heavier when it’s closer to Christmas.
