How To Style A Bed

Don’t you just love the look of a layered bed??

All those pillows and duvets and throws

just beckoning you to jump in

and snuggle down…

Now that it’s (almost) Spring

I thought it was time for a little refresh

with a few new bedding pieces.

And since beige is the new ‘it’ color for 2022,

I decided to add a little of that into the mix

to update my look.

So I found this striped duvet cover and shams that match my bed skirt and pillows.

Then I found a gauzy throw

and I made a new accent pillow with just a touch of color.

Now I have two duvets, two large pillows, four regular pillow shams, an accent pillow and a throw —

So how did I put it all together??

I’m so glad you asked!

HERE’S HOW TO STYLE A BED:

After you put on your sheets, (see how to put your sheets on the bed in less than 5 minutes HERE)

put on your main duvet.

(I’m using my white linen one with the ruffles.)

Now fold the top of the sheet over the top of the duvet

This protects the top of the duvet while you’re sleeping under it.

Now fold everything down about a foot

You don’t have to do this step but I think it makes the bed more welcoming.

Next it’s time for some pillows

I’m using my two natural linen pillows that match my bed skirt. You could also use Euro pillows here. You want these back pillows to be taller than your standard bed pillows.

Then I added the two standard pillows and shams that came with the striped duvet cover.

I put them on the bottom because I don’t want to see very much of them.

Then I topped those pillows with my pillows with the embroidered linen shams

Next I added the other duvet

I put it on the top of the bed and stretched it out.

Then I folded it back in half toward the foot of the bed.

The next step is to fold the top half back up about one-third of the bed

Now it’s time for the finishing touches —

A decorative lumbar pillow

and a gauzy throw

Stand at the corner of the foot of the bed and take one corner of the throw and toss it onto the center of the bed so that it drapes down the side of the corner where you’re standing. (Get more tips for how to style throw blankets HERE)

So there you have it!

I have the same striped duvet shams. Then I have a linen duvet with matching shams the same shade as the stripes. I have white cotton sheets. A white cotton throw. I couldn't find the right gauze cotton throw. I'm still looking for the decorator pillows. I am unable to send photos. ☹️ thank you i now have an idea on the pillows to add.
