Thrifting Adventure at Goodwill: What to Look For & How to Style

I'm so excited to take you on a thrifting adventure with me at a new Goodwill location! This place is a bit of a drive, but the hunt for treasures is always worth it.

Sifting Through the Stacks

First stop: books! Coffee table books are great for adding style to a home, but they can be expensive retail. Thrifting offers the perfect solution – interesting reads that double as beautiful decor. I found a "Baking with Julia" book with stunning pictures and recipes, and its clean white cover was a bonus.

Mirrors are another item on my thrifting wishlist, but a $39.99 price tag at Goodwill made me keep looking.

Art on a Budget

Thrift stores are goldmines for unique artwork! I spotted a beautiful, new-in-package poster that would look amazing framed. The price? A steal at $3.99!

Eye-Catching Metal Tray

This oversized metal tray with intricate details caught my eye. It could be a wall hanging or styled on an ottoman or table. It was priced at $24.99.

Arthur Court Collection

Thrift stores are great for spotting collections. This location had a whole section of Arthur Court aluminum serving ware – high-quality, timeless pieces. While some were a bit rough, others were in fantastic condition. They're perfect for adding a touch of elegance and functionality.

Floral Finds

Faux florals are another thrifting win.

I found a charming little terracotta pot with faux lavender (originally Hearth & Hand) for $1.99 that needed a bit of TLC but was otherwise perfect.

Projects with Potential

A galvanized metal tray with a few dings could be easily fixed with some J-B Weld. Once restored, it would be a beautiful centerpiece filled with flowers or decor.

Multifunctional Treasures

This faux leather and wood storage trunk was love at first sight! It's not only stylish but also practical for storage.

Almost Perfect

A giant floral tray with gorgeous colors almost came home with me, but I just couldn't find the right spot for it.

Basket Case (Not Really!)

While a two-tone basket initially seemed promising, it needed more work than I had time for, so I left it for another thrifter.

Vintage Dishware Delight

I love finding vintage dinnerware and dishes, whether it's a full set or individual pieces. This Goodwill had a fantastic selection!

From Thrift Store to Home Sweet Home

Now, let's see how I styled my thrifted treasures!

1. Thrifted Art Gets a New Frame

First up: a vintage print with a double mat and a not-so-great frame. The print and mat were too beautiful to pass up, especially at $6.99.

I deconstructed the frame (a tougher feat than expected!) and found a perfect $3 frame from an estate sale. After some trimming and securing with paper tape, I have a stunning new piece of framed art for only $10!

2. Baking with Julia in Style

This "Baking with Julia" cookbook was irresistible! The clean cover and mouthwatering pictures won me over. It was published in 1996 and cost a mere $1.99. It'll be displayed in my kitchen and used for some delicious baking adventures.

3. Hearth & Hand Lavender Finds a Home

This little lavender arrangement in a terracotta pot (originally Hearth & Hand 2020 for $4.99) was a delightful find. A quick cleaning with compressed air, and it's the perfect addition to my home decor.

Thank you for joining me on this Goodwill thrifting adventure! Let me know in the comments what you love to thrift the most. See you next time!
