Christmas Decorate With Me: How to Decorate a Hutch
Today we are kicking off my Christmas decorate with me for 2023. I am so excited that you’re joining me. As I walk you through each step in the process, you will get a better understanding of how to decorate for Christmas in the simplest way possible.
Ready to see some holiday dining room decorating ideas that are both fresh and festive? Let’s get started.
Before we get started decorating, I want to share a little bit of a mini haul of the items that I'm using. I'm going to be incorporating some thrifted pieces this year. So I'm going to show you a couple of those pieces that we're going to be using in my hutch later on. I love to use little treasures I find along the way, and I don't want them to get damaged or misplaced because they're few and far between.
Pipes
The first thing we're going to be incorporating into the hutch is these pipes. I absolutely love them. They are so cute, so I'm going to be styling those today for sure.
Reindeer
I also have this little reindeer that wasn't actually thrifted, but it's just really cute and my boys love playing with little animals. This one's like really good quality, so I don't want them to accidentally drop it and break it, so I am going to be keeping this in the hutch.
Bottle brush trees
I also have some bottle brush trees, so we're going to be putting together a little arrangement with these. These came from Target’s Dollar Spot this year and were very inexpensive. The small ones are a dollar and the medium-sized ones are three dollars I think.
Mini ornaments
I went to a vintage market this past weekend and one of my favorite booths had these mini ornaments. They are so pretty. They come in different shapes and sizes, and they were only sixty cents a piece. So I got a few of those that I'm also going to be making in a little arrangement.
Brass horn
Another thrifted item I have is my brass horn here. It is so cute, and I found this at a vintage market for like five dollars.
Greenery stems
I am also going to be using tons of greenery. One of the things I love to do is pop off little pieces of greenery on stems and stick them in my hutch. I think it's a cute little touch to add festive colors and whatnot each season.
Dried oranges
Another thing I'm going to be incorporating into my home this holiday season is dried oranges. You will see tons of these around my home because I love them so much.
Pine cones
I also like pine cones, so I am going to be making several little arrangements to stick in my hutch.
Books
I have very basic items in my hutch that act as holiday decor as well, like books.
Brass pieces
I also have a few brass pieces that are staples I always keep in here or use to decorate around the house. So we're going to be doing that again this year.
Wreath
When it comes to decorating the center of my hutch, I am going to be hanging a wreath on the front of it. I already have a hook on it, so it will be easy to add the wreath right in the center of the hutch.
Nativity scene
I have to showcase my little nativity scene, which came from Hobby Lobby last year. It's just so pretty and simple. It’s wooden and has a gold finish over the top, but I love it. I think it is very beautiful. It kind of looks old to me, but the brass sets the tone for Christmas. So I love this. It's super pretty. So that will definitely be displayed front and center.
Decorating a hutch for Christmas
I really hope you enjoyed this simple Christmas decorate with me. I love how it all turned out. It's so peaceful yet very subtle. I love the simple touches of red with the ribbon and the candlesticks. That's really all it took to feel very festive in here.
