Cozy Fall Farmhouse Tour: DIY Magic and Rustic Decor Ideas

Today, I'm beyond excited to take you on another beautiful fall farmhouse tour. We’re diving into the home of an incredibly talented duo from We_Dabble on Instagram, who have an amazing knack for DIY projects and home decor. I’ve been a fan of their work for a while now, and I can’t wait to share their space with you.

We’re starting outside, where our colonial home, built in 1966, stands tall. The exterior paint is a serene blue that my husband and I chose, and we’ve kept the fall décor simple and classic with mums that bloom beautifully at this time of year.

My oldest daughter made the scarecrow out front, and it’s a sentimental touch that I cherish every fall. We also added some personal DIY touches, like the door, the outdoor lighting, and even the mailbox.

As you walk into the foyer, you’ll see the shiplap walls we added ourselves, which give the space a charming, rustic feel.

On one side, we’ve got a little key nook, and right by the stairs, we built a small seating area—one of my favorite spots in the house.

Heading into the living room, we have some special pieces that I’m so excited to share with you. The pew in the corner? I scored that gem on Facebook Marketplace. It’s over 100 years old and originally came from a church, which I just love.

I also found the lockers on Marketplace, which I DIY’d to fit the space perfectly.

One of the highlights of this room is the faux fireplace that my husband built. I had been dreaming of adding a fireplace, and he made it happen! The plywood walls here were also DIY’d to give that perfect shiplap look without breaking the bank.

A fun little detail is the arch window frames above the mantel. The large arch on top? That was my crazy idea! It’s actually the top of an old dresser we had in our bedroom. I just love how it turned out.

Moving into the dining room, we’ve carried the shiplap through this space too.

The table was a free find on Facebook Marketplace, and we paired it with a bench I also scored recently.

On one side of the room, I created a plate and basket wall.

Now, let’s head into the kitchen. This space is almost entirely DIY, with my husband and I doing everything from the cabinets to the island.

We painted the kitchen in Alabaster White by Sherwin-Williams and added some fun features, like open shelving and a Dutch door that I found on Craigslist.

It was originally a dark brown, but we stripped it and painted it to fit our farmhouse aesthetic.

I also wanted to hide the microwave, so my husband built a custom cabinet above the stove where it’s cleverly tucked away.

As you can see, the kitchen is small, so we made the most of the space with clever DIYs.

We even created a custom pantry door for a more farmhouse-inspired look.

In the family room, we kept things cozy and simple. The back wall is covered in shiplap, and there’s a little reading nook where my daughter loves to curl up with a book.

I DIY’d the coffee table and side tables to give them a fresh, farmhouse feel, and the fireplace here has a beautiful German smear finish that my husband did for me.

Let’s step into the backyard, which is one of our favorite spaces. The deck is huge, and we spent hours sanding and staining it to bring it back to life.

We built the pergola ourselves, using greenhouse plastic to provide some shade, and added a trellis in the back for even more charm.

This is where we love to sit, relax, and spend time with family and friends. We have a playhouse for our daughter, a swing, and a fire pit that my husband put together. It’s the perfect spot to unwind at the end of the day.

There’s still so much we want to do out here, like adding a greenhouse and maybe even a little waterfall feature, but for now, it’s our little slice of heaven.

Wow. That's it. But it's not a that's great wow. Just an OMG one. It's important to balance "collections" with uncluttered visual spots. A few good ideas, but those get overpowered by the chaotic clutter. The playhouse is adorable.
