Dark cabinets

The old bottom cabinets were painted in a pretty dark green called Pewter Green by Sherwin-Williams but we wanted to lighten and brighten it.

I wanted a light putty color and decided on Asiago by Valspar which offers a slight contrast between the upper white cabinets and also the countertops. I brought color back to the island with Retreat by Sherwin-Williams. The color changes depending on the light–as you can see I also painted the barn doors in Retreat but they look much darker.

Gold hardware on the cabinets

I also changed the brackets and hardware from black to gold using Rub ‘n Buff. That stuff is magic and a little bit goes a long way.

Color scheme

As you can see I have continued the green, pink, and white theme throughout the room to balance what I’ve done throughout the adjoining rooms.

Wood bunnies from Target

Open shelves

I added adorable wood bunnies from Target. The bunnies add that great white and wood contrast. Then I added in some greenery and blush bowls and planters. I used a diagonal method so you can see the pitchers are diagonal to one another.

Across the way, I mirrored the look on another set of open shelves.

A simple pink tulip dishtowel hangs between two simple white ones. I also hung a little white pitcher and a wooden board to tie in with the wood bunnies on the shelves above.

Spring cups in the canisters

First corner

The little white bunny sits in front of the sugar and flour canisters. I added two pretty and dainty floral coffee cups to the canisters. I found the cups at Goodwill and I love the detail.

Simple green wreath

I added a simple green wreath–it’s just the perfect size for this little dark spot. I put the wreath on a mirror to brighten up the spot.

Cute egg holder with faux eggs

Second corner

Look at this cute little egg holder! They are holding little faux eggs. Here are two saucers that go with those sweet little coffee cups.

I found two pasta bowls in the same pattern as the coffee cups and saucers at Goodwill.

Island decor

Here’s an arrangement with pink and white spring stems, a glass jar with pretty faux eggs, and a leaping bunny from Target.

Adding pieces to the island rail

On the island rail, I added a blush fabric, a white colander, and a basket holding greenery and rolling pins.

I kept the table simple because we eat here every day. In the center, I have a stand with cute bunnies and a garland that I wrapped around so it looks like a wreath, candlelight, and faux plants that rest on the saucers from Goodwill.

I found this little piece at IKEA years ago and added a lamp, bunnies, faux greenery, and some extra blush bowls.

Over on this DIY plate rack, I layered rabbits in front of the cutting board for that contrast and other plates that I used for Valentine’s Day decor that also work for spring.

Faux roses on a barn door

Barn doors

I added a bag of faux roses to hang from the barn door–bringing in that pop of blush color here.

Pop of pink on a white chair

Here’s a pink throw I added to one of the kitchen chairs. Throws are perfect draped over blanket ladders, baskets, sofas, and chairs. It adds a perfect splash of color.

I added a faux tulip wreath to the utility closet door in the kitchen. The white tulips contrast nicely with the green door.
