If you are asking yourself what the heck s a cloche? I got you covered (no pun intended).

Think of a cloche as the petite cousin to the hurricane vase- flipped upside down.

Before blogs and Pinterest, I was not familiar with this decor staple, but a glass dome on a pedestal is an easy way to decorate a small space for the fall season.

HOW TO STYLE A FALL CLOCHE

LOCATION

I had so much fun creating a fall display using my petite glass domes for our fall living room. Cloches work well with small spaces like these ideas:

  • coffee tables
  • powder bath
  • in front of a window
  • kitchen corner
  • mantels

My only suggestion would be to keep glass a safe distance from big dogs (we have two Bernese Mountain dogs).

Cloches are simple. Just fill it and forget about it.

If you don’t have a glass dome you can use a glass hurricane, mason jar, or a vase that works just as well. I forgot I had one and It turns out I had two tucked away on my office windowsill.

WHAT TO ADD TO A GLASS DOME OR JAR

This is the fun part! This is where you can shop your house for fall items or buy a bag of Brach’s, Autumn Mix.

Here are a few ideas to jump-start your glass jar.

seasonal pumpkins, acorns & pinecones

acorn garland

fresh leaves or pinecones

coffee beans

Brach’s candy corn

The cloche is a staple at this popular online site.

I decided my twin cloches would work on my glass coffee table in my living room.

Instead of a table runner for the coffee table (too long), I used this pillow cover.

It looks great in my navy and white living room.

LEAVES IN A CLOCHE

Tip I used the broken strands of fall garland and berries. You know the bits and pieces that settle on the bottom of the storage bin.

MINI PUMPKINS

I found these white pumpkins to fill the glass dome or jar.

I do the same thing with larger glass lanterns. The key is not to overthink fall decor.

CLOCHES WORK WELL HERE:
  • rental units
  • condos
  • add a cloche to an office cubby

COFFEE BEANS

Years ago coffee beans were the decor staple. I never gave up on this easy filler idea and added a few of the beans to the glass jar. I like to tilt the glass dome just a smidge to get the coffee bean aroma.

SHOP

Here are a few places to find cloches.

  1. This site’s inventory changes daily, but most items are in rotation.
  2. Here is one for under $25.00.

Turn the globe upside down and fill it from the top to the bottom of the globe part, then put the base on it and flip it over. You need to make something to hold the globe up like that until you fillit if you have no help.
