My Five Favorite Indoor Plants for Fall
Fall is here, which means winter is just around the corner, and it’s time to start moving our gardening and plant care indoors. Today, I want to share my five favorite indoor plants with you. I’m Katherine Arensburg, and this is Simple Honest Design.
Table of contents
1. Blue Star Fern
One of my all-time favorite indoor plants is the Blue Star Fern. It has a beautiful silvery texture and stands vertically, unlike most ferns that tend to flop over.
This plant adds a unique vertical element to any room. I love placing it on a shelf as a standalone statement piece, especially in areas with low to medium light.
It’s perfect for adding greenery to those dimmer spots in your home.
2. Succulents
Succulents are a go-to favorite of mine because they come in a variety of colors, textures, and heights. I enjoy grouping them together in areas of the house that receive a lot of light.
Succulents are not only visually stunning when clustered but also incredibly easy to care for, requiring minimal water and attention. They’re perfect for anyone who loves low-maintenance, high-reward plants.
3. Monkey Grass
Alright, for my low-budget, thrifty plant lovers out there, I’ve got a plant for you too—Monkey Grass. If you live in the South, chances are you’ve seen it growing everywhere.
It’s versatile and inexpensive. You can either dig some up from your yard or grab it from your local big-box store for just a few dollars. Monkey Grass adds a deep green color and a strappy texture to any space in your home that needs a little extra love.
4. Bird's Nest Fern
A new addition to my own indoor collection is the Bird's Nest Fern. I adore this plant because of its symmetry, which gives it a more formal look than most other ferns.
The wide, flat leaves with a slight wave and its bright green color bring a refreshing contrast to the other plants I’ve mentioned. It’s a great way to add a touch of elegance to your indoor landscape.
5. Croton
Last but not least, let me introduce you to the Croton. This plant is perfect for fall because it brings all those warm autumn colors indoors.
As the landscape outside changes, you can enjoy similar seasonal hues inside with this plant. You can start with a small Croton in a container and let it grow to a larger size.
I like to place mine in a basket for an earthy texture and display it on the floor next to a cozy chair.
Conclusion
If you're just starting your indoor plant collection, this list is a great way to add inexpensive decorative touches and purified air to your home. Until next time, I’m Katherine Arensburg, and this is Simple Honest Design.
